Air to Port A forces the pistons outwards, triggering the pinion to switch counterclockwise while the air is getting fatigued from Port B.
Air to Port B forces the pistons inwards, causing the pinion to change clockwise whilst the air is currently being exhausted from Port A.

CW
Air to Port A forces the pistons outwards, causing the pinion to switch clockwise although the air is being exhausted from Port B.
Air to Port B forces the pistons inwards, leading to the pinion to change counterclockwise whilst the air is being exhausted from Port A.

Spring return actuators
CCW
Air to port A forces the pistons outwards, causing the EPTs to compress, The pinion turns counterclockwise while air is becoming fatigued from port B.
Decline of air force on port A, the saved power in the EPTs forces the pistons inwards. The pinion turns clockwise while air is being exhausted from port A.

CW
Air to port B forces the pistons outwards, causing the EPTs to compress, The pinion turns counterclockwise even though air is becoming exhausted from port B.
Loss of air stress on port A, the stored strength in the EPTs forces the pistons inwards. The pinion turns clockwise although air is getting fatigued from port A.
